About Me…

My name is Billy McNeil and I am an LTA licensed Level 4 Senior Performance Coach. I am the Club Coach at Aberdour and I also coach at Kirkcaldy and Kinghorn Tennis Clubs.

As a junior I played in the Scottish National Squad from the age of 8 to 18 and won numerous Scottish titles. I have represented the East of Scotland team at both junior and senior level. At the age of 17 I was selected for the International Sports Scholarship Programme at The University of Stirling where I combined high level tennis with full-time education.

I graduated from university with an Honours Degree in Sports Studies (Sports Psychology, Physiology, Sports Business and Management). Upon graduating I began working as a Tennis Pro at David Lloyd in Edinburgh and soon after became Club Coach at Aberdour. After 5 years working at both clubs I decided to commit myself fully to Aberdour where I, with the help of Junior Coordinator Lynn Slater, developed the junior programme from 30 children to over 140 and the adult programme from 0 to 50.

In 2011 Aberdour Tennis Club won The East of Scotland Club of the Year Award thanks to its successful coaching programme, great facilities and continued support from members and the committee. 2012 has been an extremely successful year for our junior teams participating in the East of Scotland leagues, with both our 14 and under and 16 and under boys winning divisions 1 and 2, whilst our 12 and under boys succeeded in winning division 2.

As always, I look forward to the continued development and progress of the junior and adult programme and my future with Aberdour Tennis Club, helping all players fulfill their potential.
